Guidelines for submitting information for your newsletter

Following these guidelines will save you money and me time in preparing your weekly newsletter.

Our goal is to produce a newsletter with information that a reader can easily scan to determine if they want more information about a certain article. To accomplish this goal we want our articles to be no more that 5 or 6 sentences to give the reader a synopsis of the article or information about an upcoming charitable event. The reader can then click on a link for more information. We therefore want the vast majority of the articles in the newsletter

  1. to already be written somewhere on the internet
  2. to be linkable from the newsletter.
    • An article on a web page that requires a subscription is not linkable.
  3. or that there be a web page with details about the upcoming event so that we can link to that page.

To submit articles from the web

    • Find the article on the web.
    • Copy the article link from the address bar and past it into an email to me.
    • Unless you note otherwise we may use the article in other newsletters as we feel appropriate.

To submit articles you write

To meet our goal of keeping articles in the newsletters short and easily scanned, any articles that you write should be posted on your web page first. Then send us a 5 or 6 sentence description of the article for publishing in the newsletter along with a link to the article on your web page. There will be an additional charge ($75.00 per hour) if we are required to create a web page for hosting the article.

Copyright Issues

Please keep in mind that we must abide by copyright laws. Most web sites are copyright protected. It is illegal to take content from another website and call it your own. It is generally accepted practice to write a short synopsis of the article and then link to it, however, we cannot copy an article and post it on your website. We must refer to the original article.

To submit Featured Item (Home of the Week / Client / Friend / Product)

To be included in our standard newsletter price, a featured item must already be posted somewhere on the internet so that we can easily create a link to that web page.

Featured Home of the Week

In most cases we will include a photo of the realtor and a photo of the property. To submit a Home of the Week, please send me an email with a link to the "Buer's Full Page" or the listing on the Realtor’s web page featuring this house. If you want to include a photo of the realtor, please send a link to a web page that includes the photo.

Postings to your Web Page.

If your featured home of the week requires me to edit your web site to include more information about the home or to post a PDF flyer to your web site there will be an additional charge for that weeks newsletter.

Featured Client / Friend

Send an email with a link to the client’s web page. If they don't have a web page please submit a couple of paragraphs describing their business along with contact informaiton.

Featured Product or Service

Send a link to the specific web page that contains information about the product and that has a photo.

Web site edits

If you are including a regular column in your newsletter that requires me to post something to your web page there will be an additional charge for each such posting. This would include such things a posting a recipe or other items with links from the newsletter. ($50.00 to create a simple text web page; $25.00 for each edit to a simple text web page; $75.00 per hour to create and edit more complicated web pages.

Photos

If you submit photos for inclusion in the newsletter please include the names of the people in the photo.

Ask Me/ Thank You

If you use an Ask Me or Thank You column you must submit your question and answer or thank you note in a complete and edited version so that I can “cut and past it” into your newsletter. It can be submitted as the body of an email or a forwarded email or as a Microsoft Word document.
